The Spartans travelled up to Fresno this past weekend to compete in one of the biggest meets in California and the nation at the Clovis Invitational. The temperature during both the boys and girls varsity race was pushing well into the mid 90's, but that didn't stop us from doing what we came to do.

Our fearless leader, Matt Stein finished 15th in the boys Divions I Varsity Race with a breakthrough race he's been working towards since coming back from his summer injuries. Dinuk Amarasinghe came in next also performing well in spite of the heat and the brutal hills.

On the girl's side, Kim Haefele continued her success finishing 8th in the girls Division I Varsity Race, followed close behind by Raegan Peterson who was close with her for a large part of the race. Also stepping up to the plate, freshman, Amy Gitmed surprised everyone and finished fourth for the lady Spartans, showing her heart and ability to perform well under pressure. The girls finished 14th out of 37 schools.

Overall, Clovis was a success. The Spartans got a chance to run the course where the state meet will be held, ran against some tough competition and took one step closer to the success they've been sweating for.
