Although the San Francisco trip was an incredible team bonding experience, Woodbridge proved to be our first real test as a team. Teams from all over California showed up hungry for some fast early season times on a flat course on the fresh Great Parks Course.

As a whole, the day was a successful one for us; it showed us plenty of areas where we need to grow as a team and yet it also had it’s victories. Many of our spartans walked away from that race with medals, proving that they belong with the elite runners of their age groups. Several standout performances worth recognizing would be Reagan Peterson and Kim Haefele who finished right next to each other with times of 18:19 and 18:20, and on the guys’ side Albert Lorenzana opened his senior season with a bang, a running quick 15:42. A big congratulations to our Runner's of the Meet this week: Albert for the boys and Raegan for the girls.
Our team still has a lot to learn about what it means to be a team, especially when it comes to supporting one another (even when the varsity races are hours after everyone else’s). And when we move our supplies from the bus we can be more efficient if more people step up and help us set up. But overall it was a successful day: the Spartans took home some medals and we intimidated everyone with our Ethiopian War Chant.
